The jungle sea bar

Named after a street — and a fish

MERO 18 came with its address built in: Calle Mero #18, a leafy corner just off Avenida Carlos Nader in the heart of downtown Cancún. The street gave us our name, and the street owes it to the mero — the grouper, one of the most prized fish on the Mexican Caribbean reefs. It set the house rule from day one: treat the sea with respect, and serve it fresh.

That's the whole idea behind our jungle sea bar: a raw bar of oysters and clams, bright ceviches and aguachiles, tiraditos, tostadas and signature sushi rolls, poured alongside Mexican wine and craft cocktails. Curious about the fish behind the name? We tell the full story on the blog.

The patio: dinner under the palms

It's the corner of MERO 18 everyone photographs first: tall palms, striped shade sails, string lights and live-edge wooden tables set over gravel that crunches like a beach. By day it's a bright garden made for oysters and cold white wine; after dark the lights soften and dinner stretches out — nobody checks the time.

  • Tables under palms and shade sails
  • String lights after sundown
  • Corners for two, long tables for a crowd
  • The same garden from breakfast to dinner

Indoors

A greenhouse with white tablecloths

Prefer a roof over your head? The dining room is a glass conservatory wrapped in garden: floor-to-ceiling windows, hanging plants, crisp white linens and a sculptural ceiling of woven branches curling around a real tree trunk at the center of the room.

Cool air, green light and the jungle one pane away — ideal for hot afternoons and long, unhurried dinners.

Wine & cocktails

The bar is the heart of the house

Everything happens at the pale stone bar: oysters are shucked to order, signature cocktails are shaken, and the house's Mexican wines are uncorked — Valle de Guadalupe and Parras labels like Relieve, Concreto and Casa Madero, alongside tequila and 400 Conejos mezcal.

Grab a leather stool, order by the piece and let the bartender set the pace of the night.

Inside Mezcal Boutique Hotel

A jungle hotel wrapped around the table

MERO 18 lives inside Mezcal Boutique Hotel, the biophilic hideaway of Avenida Nader — a cenote-style pool with its own waterfall, Mangroove Spa, a traditional temazcal, and a motto that says it all: "The jungle, in the heart of the city."

One thing we want to make crystal clear: the restaurant is open to everyone. You don't need to be a hotel guest to join us for breakfast, lunch or dinner — walk in straight off the street, every day from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.
